🔧 How to Repair Underground Dog Fence Wire

Simple Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Locate the Break

  • Walk your fence line or use a wire break locator if available
  • Look for disturbed soil, recent digging areas, or landscaping damage 

Step 2: Expose the Damaged Wire

  • Carefully dig around the suspected area
  • Expose enough wire to work comfortably

Step 3: Cut & Prepare the Wire

  • Cut out the damaged section completely
  • Strip about ½ inch of insulation from each end of the wire

Step 4: Splice the Wires

  • Twist the exposed wire ends together securely
  • Attach a wire connector (wire nut or splice connector) to hold the connection 

Step 5: Waterproof the Connection

  • Insert the connection into the gel-filled splice capsule or waterproof tube

Step 7: Rebury the Wire
